Magome & Nakatsugawa Area
Magome-juku is one of the Nakasendo Trail’s best preserved postal towns and the starting or end point for the popular 7.5km walk between it and Tsumago-juku. Magome has multiple ‘ryokan’ (traditional guesthouses) catering to visitors on multi-day walks along the historic trail or those just staying overnight.
Accommodation in Magome can book-out quickly, particularly during the popular spring and autumn walking seasons, making nearby Nakatsugawa another great option. Nakatsugawa Station is the nearest station to Magome, a convenient stop on Limited Express Shinano services running between Nagoya, Matsumoto and Nagano.
Visitors looking for a large hotel should search the area outside of Magome rather than in the town, where options are more limited.
