Sai Lake (Saiko) Area

One of the ‘Fuji Five Lakes’, Sai Lake or ‘Saiko’ lies to the west of the larger Kawaguchiko and on the northern-side of Mount Fuji. Less developed than Kawaguchiko, Saiko offers visitors far fewer accommodation, dining and entertainment while views of the great mountain are often obscured by the surrounding hills. The lake is popular with some Japanese due to its multiple campgrounds on the southern, eastern and northern shores while a number of hotels and guesthouses provide alternative options. Saiko is best-suited visitors wanting to camp or enjoy boating, fishing and other outdoor activities. For accommodation listings at the other lakes, see the relevant hotel page: Kawaguchi Lake (Kawaguchiko) / Yamanaka Lake (Yamanakako) / Shoji Lake (Shojiko) / Motosu Lake (Motosuko).
