As highlighted in our recent blog article – ‘#SNOWMONKEYRESORTS LOCAL: What is Japan’s ‘Go To Travel’ Campaign?’ – Japanese citizens and foreign residents of Japan are currently eligible for by savings when booking domestic holidays and other activities.
The campaign has been running since mid-July however until now, it has not covered people residing in Tokyo. Good news is that the government has announced its intention to extend the ‘Go To Travel’ campaign to both residents of Tokyo from October 1st 2020 onward, including discounts on travel to the capital*.
The addition of Tokyo to the campaign is dependent on there being no significant increase in the spread of COVID-19 in the capital prior to October 1st. So please be mindful of that when booking your trips and make sure to check the cancellation policies of travel agents, hotels and other participating organisations.
This is great news for lots of people and know doubt those living in Tokyo are more than ready to escape and enjoy a well-deserved holiday! As the southern terminal of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, Nagano is within easy reach of the capital yet in most other regards, a world away from the hustle and congestion of Tokyo.
Tickets on many tickets on the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line are also discounted up to 50%! – even more reason to plan, book, save and getaway.
