We are very happy to announce that the first babies of 2019 are now being welcomed to the Snow Monkey Park! Expectant mothers give birth from late-April to early-June each year, making spring one of the best times to visit the park, and to this point we have spotted four gorgeous, tiny new additions to the troop and we wanted to share the first photographs of them!

Any visit to the Snow Monkey Park is a memorable experience given the uniqueness of these truly curious creatures and the close proximity in which you can observe them. With no barriers separating visitors from the monkeys, you really do get very close! Observing the new mothers with their babies is perhaps the higlight of the whole year but please remember to give them their space as they can be understandably anxious. We always ask that visitors keep 1 to 2 meters between themselves and the monkeys when moving toward them.

The adorable babies remain tightly within their mothers grip for now, with wrinkled little faces and big glassy eyes blinking in amazement of their bright, new world. But it won’t be long before their stretching their long arms and legs and eager to get going, in curious exploration of the park.

Our experienced guides continue to welcome guests to Nagano and the park, and there is no better time to book a tour and turn your visit into an even better experience! With lots of knowledge about the monkeys, their babies, and everything Nagano, our guides are there to help you get the most out of your visit.

Combining a visit to the Snow Monkey Park with lunch and afternoon exploration of Nagano’s iconic Zenko-ji Temple followed by sake-tasting, our Snow Monkey, Zenko-ji temple & Sake Tour operates all year round and look forward to welcoming many new and old friends to the region this spring and summer to meet the news monkeys in the troop!

I guess last year’s babies will just have to get used to not being the cutest things in the park anymore… (still pretty cute though!).
