In Japan the season of spring is heavily celebrated. The most famous habit the Japanese display is sitting under colorful cherry blossoms and just watching the blossoms bloom while drinking a beer, etc. and eating traditional Japanese candy called dango.
In Tokyo the celebrations are already underway. Nagano, encompassed by mountains and of higher altitude than Tokyo, is only just starting. The city of Nagano has a multitude of blossoms, some of which have started blooming, others which are still buds.
Obuse, a city in between the Snow Monkey area and Nagano City, is famous for its blossoms. The blossoms here have not yet started but the below photo is what you can expect from Obuse:
The Snow Monkey area is colder and higher in the mountains than Nagano City. Here the trees are still very much uncolored, only buds showing that spring is beginning. The weather up there is also cooler, which slows down the bloom of the blossoms. We expect the trees to start blooming here in about 10 days.
