Nozawa Onsen

Boasting one of Japan’s most popular and fun ski resorts, Nozawa Onsen is firmly established as a winter favourite for skiers and snowboarders from all over the world. Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort is known for its fantastic powder, great terrain and lively village. Sitting at the base of ski runs and surrounded by the slopes, the resort and village enjoy a great atmosphere thanks to the restaurants and bars that offer as much fun off the mountain as on the slopes.

While it’s the snow that might attract travelers to visit, it’s the atmosphere which keeps them coming back! Long before Nozawa was known for its ski runs, it was a place of healing and refuge, blessed with countless natural hot water sources feeding the towns many hot springs. Dating back to at least the 8th century, Nozawa Onsen is one of Japan’s most famous hot spring towns – a heritage that can be enjoyed anytime of year at one of the thirteen free bathhouses spread through the town or at one of many traditional guesthouses with their own hot springs. Readily accessible from Tokyo and beyond via Iiyama Station, Nozawa offers an access from the hustle and hum of city life and a return to tradition.
