Ueno Station is one of Tokyo’s major transport hubs with lots to see and enjoy in the immediate vicinity, making it a popular choice when choosing accommodation in the capital. The Keisei Skyliner runs from Keisei Ueno Station – only a couple of minutes walk from Ueno Station – with Narita Airport in 40 to 55-minutes (depending on the service you choose), while multiple shinkansen lines including the Hokuriku Shinkansen bound for Nagano stop at Ueno. With many inner-city rail lines running to and from Ueno, it is one of the most convenient areas to stay in Tokyo. The area around the station is known for its range of mid-range to budget hotel, plenty of nightlife and restaurants, and popular attractions including Ueno Zoo and multiple museums including the Tokyo National Museum – all within walking distance of the station.

The area of Ueno is an extremely popular and convenient area to base your stay in Tokyo for any of the reason listed above. Ueno Station is serviced by multiple train lines, but the one that will be of most use during your stay will undoubtedly be the JR Yamanote Line. This is the most central of all train lines in Tokyo, and therefore you can reach all the main hot spots such as Tokyo, Shinjuku and Shibuya from Ueno easily. For example, you can be in Shinjuku in 26 minutes, Shibuya in 32 minutes and Tokyo in just 7 minutes. The JR Ueno Tokyo Line will also be extremely useful whilst basing yourself in Ueno.

Ueno Station has multiple exits, and so depending on where you’re staying or what activities you would like to do, you will need to choose the most appropriate exit for you. For example, if you’re looking to explore the area of Ueno whilst you’re staying here, the ’Park Exit’, ’Central Exit’ and ’Shinobazu Exit’ all offer convenient access to most of the popular attractions. The ’Park Exit’ will bring you out in the centre of Ueno Park . From here, you will have easy walking access to the museums, shrines, temples, nature and shopping that Ueno has to offer.
