Takayama Morning Markets

Takayama Morning Markets

The Takayama Morning Markets – ‘asa-ichi’ – take place at two locations in the town, every morning of the year. The smaller of the two is held in front of the Takayama Jinya and mostly sells local produce including fruit and vegetables.

The more popular and larger of the two markets takes place along the Miyagawa River on Honmachi Dori, with many more stalls selling food and snacks, coffee, produce, souvenirs, local crafts and more!

We recommended getting along the Miyagawa River/Honmachi Dori market and sampling everything you can get your hands on – a great way to take a culinary tour of the city and get your day-off to a delicious start!

Daily 06:00 to 12:00 (from 07:00 during winter). Admission is free.
