Rokaku-Lake Fireworks and Lantern Float Festival
The Rokaku-lake Fireworks and Lantern Float Festival (ろうかく湖灯籠流しと花火大会) is held in Shinshu Shinmachi, a town in the suburban area of Nagano-city.
The festival has been celebrated every year on August 15th since 1940 and has become a staple event in the region.
Many colorful paper lanterns are flown down the river, creating a magic atmosphere in the middle of mountains. After the floating of the lanterns, the highlight of the festival, namely the launching of approximately 4000 fireworks, commences.
There will be many food stands set up in the area for this event, offering dinner and completing the cultural experience of Japanese summer festival.
Since this event is held in the night-time from 19:00 – 21:00, we recommend booking the hotel nearby Nagano Station in advance.
19:00 - 21:00
