Tokyo Photographic Art (TOP) Museum
Located in Yebisu Garden Place in the popular neighbourhood of Ebisu, the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum – or more simply referred to as the ‘TOP Museum’ is the only public museum in Japan dedicated to photography and moving images. Housing more than 33,000 works, the museum showcases the work of both Japanese and international artists across three galleries. Museum curators research and identify photographers and their artwork from all over the world, to profile and display in the heart of Tokyo.
Exhibitions vary in the themes, subjects and periods captured, from emerging contemporary photographers, to the famous, and historically important collections. Not just a gallery, TOP seeks to support and promote photography as an artform, regularly hosting lectures, workshops and events and as an arena for international exchange.
