WHERE IS THE SNOW MONKEY RESORTS TOUR DESK?

The Snow Monkey Resorts Information Desk is located only 2 minutes walk from JR Nagano Station, making it a great place to stop in for advice whenever necessary. Simply leave the East Exit of JR Nagano Station, and continue walking straight along the elevated pedestrian walkway. The Information Desk is located on the second story of its building, and so you will not need to descend to street level. You will find a flag bearing the Snow Monkey Resorts name right outside of the entrance, indicating where to turn in. Nagano Station itself is easily reachable by Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Tokyo in under 1.5 hours, despite being located almost 250km to the North-West. For guests visiting from other regions, please see our ’How to Get to Nagano City‘ page. Once you have arrived at Nagano Station, all you will need to do is follow the instructions above.

THE REGIONS COVERED UNDER OUR SERVICES

Based in Central Japan (Nagano City specifically), we have spread our coverage to include a number of adjacent regions as well as all major destinations within our home region. If you are visiting Japan, there is a very high chance that we will have something of use to you along the way!

Also referred to as Chubu, Central Japan is our home and includes the following prefectures: Nagano, Niigata, Gifu, Toyama, Aichi, Shizuoka, Yamanishi, Fukui, and Ishikawa Prefectures. Though not considered part of Chubu, we also consider Gunma Prefecture as part of Central Japan – due to its proximity bordering Nagano and similar character as a place of mountains, forests, snow and onsen.

In this region, we have tours based out of the following cities: Nagano, Matsumoto, Kanazawa, Takayama, and Nagoya, and servicing those areas in addition to nearby cities and towns such as Shirakawa-go, Fukui, Iida, Toyama, the Nakasendo, and more.

In addition, we also offer tours in the Eastern Japan (known as Kanto) and Western Japan (Kansai) regions. Home to Tokyo and Osaka respectively, it is here where you can find Japan’s biggest and most dynamic cities. With plenty to do and see, our guides are ready to make sure you don’t get lost in the hustle and bustle!

In Eastern Japan, we offer a number of tours starting from Tokyo, and visiting various destinations around the region. In Western Japan, we currently offer pick up from cities such as Osaka, Kobe, Nara, and Himeji.

As the representative tour of our home city of Nagano, you cannot go wrong with this 1-Day group tour. Starting with a morning at Zenko-ji temple, one of Japan’s most important and historic temples, and including sake tasting as well as lunch, the afternoon will find you at the Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park. With ample time to watch these furry primates enjoying their ritual of bathing in the hot springs, you will be impressed with the varied antics and intelligence of these unique animals. Pick up from Nagano Station is available year round, with pick up from the ski resort of Hakuba on offer during the winter months.

Visiting Nagano City’s regional rival, Matsumoto City, you will be able to experience the deep history of Central Japan directly at Matsumoto Castle, one of the few remaining original castles in the country. Of course, Central Japan is also renowned for its natural beauty and it would be remiss to leave that out of a trip here; to that end, a visit to Kamikochi, one of Japan’s prettiest alpine valleys, will take up the evening. Guided by a knowledgeable and friendly English capable guide, this tour combines our favorite things about Japan into one fun day.
