Approaching Shiga Kogen from the Nagano City side of the resort, Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki is the first major and most convenient arrival and departure point.

Nagaden Express Bus

Operating from Bus Stop No.23 outside the East Exit of Nagano Station, the Nagaden Snow Monkey/Shiga Kogen Express Bus – top image – service is one of the most convenient ways to reach Shiga Kogen.

Services stop at the Jigokudani Monkey Park before arriving at Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki, with many then continuing onto other points in the resort. Travel time in winter is dependent on weather and road conditions however typically takes around 70 to 80 minutes and costs JPY1800 one-way to reach Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki Kogen. Buses are large with luggage storage underneath including space for ski and snowboard gear. Tickets are purchased directly from the driver on the bus. Cash only. Nagaden Local Bus Services

Visitors heading to Shiga Kogen can also make use of Nagaden local bus services running to the resort from Yudanaka Station – the nearest station to the resort and terminus of the Nagano Dentetsu Railway Line running from Nagano Station.

Local bus services also first stop at the Jigokudani Monkey Park before continuing onto the resort, with Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki being the first and most convenient stop. To reach Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki from Yudanaka Station takes around 30 to 35 minutes (times can be longer in winter due to weather and road conditions) and costs JPY850 one-way. Tickets are purchased on the bus. Cash only.

Taxis 


Directly outside of Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki, taxis are available to transport visitors around or down from the resort to destinations including the Jigokduani Monkey Park, Shibu Onsen and Yudanaka Onsen. Taxis are capable of carry a limited amount of ski and snowboard gear.

Public Parking


Within 5-minutes walk of Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki, a expansive area of free public parking is available for up to 300 cars.
