Shuttle Bus: Kiso-Fukushima to Takayama

Lying around two hours to the north-west of Kiso-Fukushima Station, Takayama is famous for the historic preservation of its old town. Known as the ‘Sannomachi’, it is considered one of the best preserved examples of an Edo Period (1603-1868) town centre, remaining in Japan.

Combining your visit to Kiso Ontake and Takayama, creates an ideal and beautiful route through Central Japan – an itinerary that’s both beautiful and convenient in autumn, using the shuttle bus service from Kiso-Fukushima Station to Takayama Station.

The service is available from mid-October until mid-November, with two services available each day. Taking just over two hours to make the journey, the following times are available: departing Kiso-Fukushima at 09:30 and 11:45 and arriving in Takayama at 15:00 and 17:15 (respectively); while also departing Takayama at 09:30 and 15:00 and arriving at Kiso-Fukushima at 11:45 and 17:15 (respectively). The service cost JPY2500 per adult and JPY1250 per child (one-way). Tickets must be booked in advance.
