Hakuba Happo Pond
Accessible using the Hakuba Happo-eki Gondola ‘Adam’ followed by a 90-minute walk, Happo Pond is one of Hakuba’s most recognisable and beautiful destinations. Located at just over 2000 metres above sea level, the clear pond water reflects the triple mountain peaks – known as ‘Sanzan’ – rising to over 3000 metres above. On a clear day, the view is spectacular and offers some of the most iconic photography in Central Japan.
The walk of 1.5km from the gondola to the station is suitable to anyone of reasonable fitness. Please make sure to dress appropriately for alpine walking including good quality boots or shoes and appropriate clothing for the season, noting that mountain weather conditions can change quickly at any time of year.
