Given the efficiency of the Japanese public transport network, using the train to travel to and from Toyama to destinations including Tokyo, Nagano, Kanazawa, Kyoto and Osaka will be the best option for most travelers; while using flights from the airport to more distant destinations, such as Sapporo in Hokkaido, will be substantially faster than using the train network. Toyama is a small, regional airport with a single four-level terminal building. As such, navigating the airport is simple. There are multiple flights each day and moving to and from the airport is easy. Check-in and airline counters are on the first floor while departure gates – both domestic and international – are on the second floor.
