Amaharashi

The Himi Line is a scenic 16.5 km railway connecting Takaoka Station to Himi Station, famous for its breathtaking views of the Amaharashi Coast. On a clear day, passengers can see the Tateyama Mountain Range across Toyama Bay, making it one of Japan's most picturesque coastal train routes.

The Himi Line, operated by JR West, runs a daily service with trains departing approximately hourly. The first train from Takaoka Station typically departs around 5:56 a.m., while the last train leaves at 10:52 p.m. The entire journey takes about 30 minutes, connecting Takaoka with Himi and passing through eight stations in total.

The major stations on the line are the termini, Takaoka and Himi, with a notable stop at Amaharashi Station, which provides direct access to the scenic Amaharashi Coast. Other key stations include Fushiki, a port town, and Etchū-Nakagawa. The line is also served by the special "Belles Montagnes et Mer" sightseeing train on Sundays.

--Takaoka Station

Takaoka Station serves as a central hub for exploring the city's rich history and culture. From here, you can easily walk to the Takaoka Daibutsu, a magnificent 16-meter-tall bronze statue of the Great Buddha, which is considered one of Japan's three great Buddha statues. Another must-see is the Zuiryu-ji Temple, a stunning Soto Zen temple that has been designated a National Treasure and is celebrated for its perfectly symmetrical architecture and serene grounds.

--Fushiki Station

Fushiki Station is located in a historic port town with a deep connection to the sea. The Former Akimoto Family House (Fushiki Kitamae-bune Museum) showcases the town's prosperous past as a key port for the Kitamae-bune trading ships, providing a fascinating glimpse into the area's maritime heritage. A short walk from the station also leads to the nationally treasured Shokoji Temple, an impressive Buddhist temple with a history of over 500 years.

The area around Amaharashi Station is famous for its breathtaking coastal scenery. --Himi Station

Himi Station is your gateway to a city renowned for its fresh seafood and unique local culture. You can visit the Himi Banya-gai Harbour Market, a bustling facility where you can enjoy fresh seafood, shop for local products, and even soak your feet in a free hot spring footbath with a view of the sea. Another unique attraction is the Himi City Shiokaze Gallery, which celebrates the work of Himi-born manga artist Fujiko FujioⒶ, the creator of Ninja Hattori-kun.
