Mori Art Museum (MAM)
Located in the popular neighbourhood of Roppongi, the Mori Art Museum (MAM) is one of the best-known exhibition spaces in Tokyo. Rather than exhibit a permanent collection, MAM rotates its exhibitions to profile mostly contemporary Japanese and Asian artists and in doing so, provides ever-changing reasons to visit the museum.
The museum is situated on the 52nd and 53rd floors of the Mori Tower and features a screening room, research centre, restaurant and observation decks affording great views of the city. MAM is the creative force behind the hugely popular teamLab Borderless interactive art space in Odaiba, Tokyo – and as such, is considered a driving force in the Japanese art scene.
Given the museum does not hold a permanent collection, it’s best to refer to their official website to confirm what’s on when you’re in Tokyo.
