Located in the Hasuike area of Shiga Kogen, the Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki - pronounced ‘yama-no-eh-ki' and translating as 'mountain station' - is one the primary transport hubs for the ski resort. As Japan’s largest resort, Shiga Kogen offers visitors an unmatched expanse of interconnected ski fields and for international visitors – most of whom use public transport to reach the resort – Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki is a convenient hub with express bus services running to and from Nagano Station, local buses covering the resort and nearby locations, and taxis available.
The newly constructed Pulse Gondola will open for winter 2020/21, connecting Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki directly to the Giant and Hoppo Bundaira ski fields. Lift tickets, ski and snowboard rental are available with plans to open a ski school in place. The building also includes a café and small shop. Outside of winter, bus services continue to operate to and from Shiga Kogen Yamanoeki making it the gateway to the mountains and wider area of Joshinetsu Kogen National Park.
