
Sensui-jima is a stunning uninhabited island administered by the city of Fukuyama in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is also part of one of Japan’s first national parks, the Setonaikai National Park. The island is quite small, with only 6 km in circumference, but it possesses a great natural beauty which is difficult to find in the mainland. Sensui-jima’s stunning shorelines, fantastic views, and abundant greenery create a tranquil environment which is perfect for hikes and “off the beaten path” exploration.

Where is Sensui-jima Island?
Sensui-jima is located in the city of Fukuyama in Hiroshima Prefecture. It lies directly off the coast of Tomonoura, an idyllic port town which is a popular sightseeing spot in Fukuyama.
How to Get to Sensui-jima

Getting to Sensui-jima from Fukuyama Station is fairly straightforward. First, you must board a bus from the station bound for “Tomo Ko” and get off at the stop with the same name (the final one). These buses run almost every 20 minutes and the journey is about 35 minutes long.
Once you have arrived at Tomonoura, you must walk a couple of minutes to the “Fukuyama City Ferry Boarding Area to Sensuijima Island.” Here, you will find ticket vending machines where you can purchase your roundtrip ticket to Sensui-jima. You will need cash to use these machines. The trip costs JPY240 for adults and JPY120 for children. Ferries run regularly from 7:10 till 21:35 all year round.
