Hakuba Norikura Onsen Snow Resort

Hakuba Norikura Onsen Snow Resort

One of ten resorts making-up the ‘Hakuba Valley’ and connected to Hakuba Cortina via the upper runs, Hakuba Norikura is usually enjoyed using the JPY4800 joint day-pass to both resorts. To keep things simple, let’s first consider the numbers just for Norikura. Hakuba Norikura is located between 700 to 1300 metres elevation with 600 metres of vertical on offers. The resort has 14 courses serviced by 9 lifts, with the official breakdown listing ski runs as: beginner 30% / intermediate 50% / advanced 20%.

While relatively small, the resort is known for its good powder and notably quieter than Cortina. As such, while Norikura might not have the tree runs and larger size that make Cortina popular, the lack of crowds yet good snow make the resort worth visiting.Visitors to Norikura can also make use of ‘onsen’ (natural hot springs) in Wakaguri Onsen with several local hotel and guesthouses having in-house baths for the enjoyment of guests – the ideal way to rest and unwind after a day on the mountain.
