Tojinbo Cliffs

Tojinbo Cliffs

Named for a monk who is said to have fallen to his untimely death from this point, the Tojinbo Cliffs are a unique and somewhat perplexing rock formation on the Sea of Japan. Along a 1km stretch of the coastline, basalt cliffs have been eroded by the constant movement and pull of the ocean, leaving a unique formation of what appear to be stone pillars.

Visitors are free to clamber and climb over the rocks but just make sure to watch your step! After all, the Tojinbo Cliffs take its name for an unfortunate soul who did not.
