The area known as Ise Shima (or Ise Peninsula) is home to Japan’s most important Shinto shrines, onsen (hot spring) areas, themes parks and a renowned pearl cultivation industry. The area is most famous as home to the Ise Grand Shrine – the most important Shinto shrines in Japan – along with its rugged yet beautiful coastline.
