Located nearby Mount Norikura and Kamikochi, Shirahone Onsen is a small grouping of guesthouses set deep within the Chubu Sangaku National Park. Translating as the ‘White Bone Hot Spring’, the waters of Shirahone are know for their milky-white character stemming from a high magnesium and calcium content. Guesthouses have their own onsen with one public onsen allowing mixed gender bathing – once common, it is now rare to find in Japan and encapsulate the unique experience awaiting visitors to Shirahone Onsen.
