When is the best time to visit Osaka?
Osaka is great all year round. We recommend visiting Osaka in for its cherry blossoms. The city is also a great place to head to the mountains in autumn to see some of Japan's best falls colors. There are also plenty of things to do indoors if it rains or is a bit too hot! The best times to visit are:
- Spring (March - May): Plum, cherry blossoms and nemophila
- Summer (June - September): Hot and humid, but popular attractions are a bit quieter. The large Tenjin festival is held at the end of July.
- Autumn ( Mid October - Mid December): Fall foliage starts at the end of November, however some of the surrounding areas like the mountains of Wakayama and Nara start a bit earlier.
- Winter (Mid December - February): There is rarely any snow in Osaka, generally sunny and crowds are lower(except around New Year's). This is probably the best time to experience heritage sites without the crush of tourists during the spring and fall.
