PHOTOBLOG: JIGOKUDANI MONKEY PARK IN OCTOBER

It’s October! The temperature has gone down quite a bit compared to September and this is noticeable in the behavior of the monkeys. Some of them have started to get into the hot spring to warm themselves as seen in the picture below.

The snow monkeys are in full mating mode! They’re a little bit more agitated, a little bit more high-strung than in the months before this one. Where they were mellow and lazy in the summer and early autumn months, now they are more active and aware of what’s happening around them.

Most of the monkeys stay close to the alpha male, following wherever he goes. Even with his old age, he is one of the most popular mates for the females in the troop. Monkey boss and monkey group 2

Here you can see the monkeys running across the bridge next to their hot spring. The alpha male started moving more quickly, and the other monkeys followed suit.

The above photo shows the alpha male in front of the rest. He is one of the biggest monkeys with a large scar on his lip.

The monkeys are now more fluffy, even the babies, having thicker hair now the weather is getting colder.

The above monkey is also a young one, who seemed to love grabbing the railings and just hanging and perching on them.
